1. Eat an Apple

We're not sure if an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but it sure does come in handy during smoke sessions. Not only can an apple be turned into a smoking vessel (which apparently counts as a fruit serving for the day), it can also be a breath freshener. According to Sheryl Barringer, Ph.D., professor of food science and technology at Ohio State, the polyphenols in apples can break down and neutralize smelly sulfur-like compounds.

In South Korea, scientists have been working on breeding a "kiss apple" people can stash away on a date. If it looks like there's going to be some tonsil-hockey happening, the person can scarf down the apple first.

2. Swish with Hydrogen Peroxide

Giphy

It's not just for treating cuts. Hydrogen peroxide is often used as a substitute for mouthwash. It's important to note it needs to be cut 1:1 with water to avoid the full strength of the product. Hydrogen Peroxide cuts through shit, including organic smelly compounds sitting in your mouth after pulling tubes. A swish and a gargle and you're on your way.

3. Citrus Fruit Juices

Fruits like orange and lemon can help stimulate saliva glands and boost saliva production. Saliva helps neutralize the acids produced by plaque and can remove dead cells that accumulate in the mouth and cause stank-ass breath.

4. Crush Some Ginger

Giphy

We're not advocating violence against redheads, we're just pointing out ginger is a natural breath freshener. And because ginger smells pretty good to begin with, it will reduce stank breath much like an apple while giving a little freshener. Chew on a little fresh ginger before either spitting it out and rinsing, or swallowing. After all, ginger is also a superfood with many health benefits. If real ginger isn't available, ginger candy is available at stores like Whole Foods.

5. Fresh Mint

Giphy

Duh. Mint flavoring is in virtually every single oral product on the market. But we're talking about actual mint, like the kind you muddle in Mojitos. Take a mint leaf or two and chew it up followed by a rinse of water. You'll see why so many manufacturers are putting mint in their toothpaste.

6. Water + Baking Soda

Giphy

You put baking soda in your refrigerator to control smell, right? Why not put it in your stinky mouth? Baking soda absorbs nasty odors, even when mixed with water. Swish and gargle for 30-45 seconds and you'll be amazed how it'll kill off much of that stinky residue caused by weed breath.

7. Peanut Butter

Giphy

It's not just an old wives tale. Peanut Butter has long been used to mask the stench of weed breath. By simply eating a little peanut butter after smoking, you'll be ready to have a conversation with someone without worrying about making their eyes water.

8. Vodka

Giphy

If all else fails, you could just use a flammable liquid that's sure to kill everything. The alcohol in vodka cuts through just about everything, including many odor creating residues. Take a shot, but don't swallow it. Swish it around and you'll eliminate just about everything in your mouth.

9. Drink Water

Giphy

Apologies if this sounds so lame, but simply drinking or rinsing with water does wonders. My dentist said it's one of the best things you can do after drinking coffee, drinking red wine or even smoking. Simply put, the water rinses your mouth. Guaranteed your breath won't be worse after drinking water.
